Like any other contract, a car rental agreement contains the personal data of the lessee as well as the company that leases the vehicle. In addition to the usual data such as an address, date of birth, or ID card number, in the case of renting a vehicle, the number of the lessee's driving license is a matter of course.
Information about the vehicle and its condition
In addition to basic information about the vehicle, such as the type or category of vehicle, the condition of the tachometer and fuel tank at the time of picking up the vehicle should also be stated in the contract. We recommend that you thoroughly check whether the data reflects the actual condition when taking over the vehicle.
Rental information should include the place of the vehicle pick up and drop off, the date and time of the rental, the daily rental rate including VAT, as well as the fees for the extra services and accessories you have ordered.
You should pay special attention to reading the rental conditions so that you know the conditions under which you rent the vehicle and thus you may avoid possible misunderstandings or extra fees when returning the car. You can find here the information on the charges for above-limit mileage, fines, cross border fees, or fees for the excessively polluted vehicle.
Vehicle handover form
In addition to the contract, the car rental company may require the signing of a so-called handover form, which has two parts. The first records the condition of the tachometer and fuel tank as well as equipment and damage to the vehicle at the time of its pick up. After returning the vehicle, the car rental agent fills in the second part of the form containing the same information. In case of any discrepancies, the car rental company may charge you additional fees. Therefore, it is important to check the condition of the vehicle when taking it over. It is also recommended to take pictures of the interior and exterior of the car.
Is the electronic agreement valid?
Yes. Many car rental companies have gradually started to use electronic agreements, which can be signed, for example, on a tablet. It is expected that within a few years rental agreements, as well as handover forms, will be exclusively electronic, and paper contracts will become a rarity.

Our tip: Measure twice and cut once! Take your time to read the rental agreement before signing it and check all the information twice.
