Are you planning to go on summer vacation to Corfu? You should definitely not miss these places!

The island of Corfu, located in the north of Greece, is a real gem. Thanks to its beautiful beaches, mild climate, lots of greenery, and historical monuments, it is an ideal holiday destination for all age groups.

In our article, we will give you tips on the most interesting places on this island, which you should definitely not miss when visiting it.

The island's capital, Kerkyra, is full of charming historical monuments and its architecture resembles medieval Italian Venice. Its biggest attraction is probably the Old Town, which has been a part of UNESCO since 2007. In Kerkyra, you may find many old Greek Catholic churches, a historic lighthouse, museums, and narrow streets full of cozy restaurants, bars, and cafes. Moreover, the Old Town is surrounded by two impressive fortresses, from which you may have beautiful views of the city. According to many Greeks, the historic center of Kerkyra is the most romantic place in all of Greece. Don't forget to visit it in the evening when this place has an exceptional atmosphere.

Our tip: The city is relatively small, therefore, one day visit should be enough.

Originally a small fishing village, Kassiopi, located about 35 km north of the capital, is today a popular resort and one of the most visited places in Corfu. It is surrounded by hilly nature full of greenery, beautiful beaches, and bays. However, despite the growing number of tourists, this village has retained its traditional character. You should definitely not miss the promenade that leads from the main square in the city center to the picturesque harbor filled with wooden fishing boats. The overall atmosphere of this place is completed by small seafood taverns, cafes, and shops along the promenade.

Our tip: Stop by one of the restaurants and try the local seafood specialties.

Canal d´Amour

Canal d´Amour is a must-see for all couples! This natural gem is located in the north of the island, about a 20-minute walk from the village of Sidari. It lies in a picturesque sea bay, which is surrounded by impressive sandstone formations. The romantic feeling of this place is complemented by the legend, according to which the couple, who dive together into the clear sea and swim under the cave arch, will be in love for their whole life. Good news for those of you who are single! According to legend, after swimming through the cave, it is enough to think intensely about the person you like. God of love Cupid will take care of the rest ????

Our tip: On the way back from Sidari, make a stop in the villages of Perulades and Avliotes, which offer views all the way to Italy.

Glyfada beach

Glyfada is one of the most beautiful and most visited beaches on the island. It is located 16 km west of the capital and is part of the resort of the same name. This sandy beach is surrounded by impressive cliffs and greenery. The water is crystal clear and the beach has even received the status of the so-called Blue Flag - the EU award for cleanliness and amenities. Thanks to the gradual entry into the sea, Glyfada is an ideal choice for families with children. Water sports enthusiasts will also like this place.

Our tip: Corfu boasts lots of beautiful beaches. Hire a car and go to a different one every day ????

Kanoni Resort, which is considered an imaginary suburb of the capital, is located about 5 km from the city of Kerkyra. The landmark of this town is Vlacherna Monastery, which was built at the end of the 17th century and served as a refuge for local nuns. Although it is empty today, it is open for tourists. Other local attractions include the Mon Repos Mansion with a beautiful garden, which was once the summer mansion of the British Commissioner, and the remains of the Basilica of Paleopolis, the oldest church in Corfu. Undoubtedly the biggest attraction for tourists, however, is the view of the aircraft runway ending at the sea.

Our tip: Only 5 minutes by boat from Kanoni, there is Mouse Island, which is said to be the most photographed place in all of Corfu.

How to get around in Corfu?

As on most Greek islands, the best mode of transportation is a moped, quad bike, or car, which is probably the most convenient choice. However, the roads on the island are relatively narrow, so it is better to choose a smaller model. You will definitely find cars for rent from the wide selection on our website.
