The international success of Rentalport at the startup competition in Prague

Did you know that the women-founded startups present only 27% of all startups in Europe? That only around 7% of European women invest in startup financing?

Women Startup Competition was established in order to eliminate this disparity. At this year´s contest, Rentalport represented by its CEO, Martina Bondarchuk, ranked second.

In February, the prestigious WOMEN STARTUP COMPETITION, which aims to raise the profile of women-led companies a motivate women to start businesses was held in Prague for the fifth time.

The partners of the competition were Vodafone, the CzechInvest agency, and Microsoft. The media partners included online magazines CzechCrunch and E15. The event was also supported by HubHub, CzechStartups, Novalia, Presentation, and StartupJobs.

In addition to the opportunity to address potential investors and the public, the participating companies received advice from experts in the startup field and valuable prices.

Up to 8 projects made it to the finals of the competition and the competition was really great. However, Rentalport, an online search and reservation platform for car rentals, was a strong player. It beat even startups that focused on modern technologies such as blockchain or virtual reality, and as the only representative of the Slovak Republic in the competition, it won a beautiful SECOND PLACE.

Since Rentalport joined this type of competition for the very first time, the joy of winning was, according to its executive director, Martina Bondarchuk, even greater.

"The competition was very strong and all the competitors did great. Anyway, I would like to thank my team, because without them our success would not be possible. The competition definitely motivated us to continue what we do." said Bondarchuk shortly after the finals.

She then added: "The contest, including the Bootcamp, really gave me a lot. The mentors gave me great tips on how we could generate more revenue, pointed out what to focus on, and in some things really hit the nail in the head. As for the finals, it was well-organized despite the current situation. The only thing I'm a little sorry for is that I couldn't attend the finals in person and experience that atmosphere live. Hopefully next year :-)"
